Timeline Visualizer is a growing collection of privacy-first travel tools that run entirely in your browser — nothing you load is ever uploaded to a server. What it does • Flagship tool: turn the Timeline.json exported from Google Maps into a 9:16 animated travel video — your real route on a map, a moving marker, date and distance counters, optional music, and a final zoom-out of the whole trip. Ready for Instagram Reels and TikTok. • Privacy zone: detects your home and workplace on your device and blurs them in the rendered video, so sharing a route never means publishing your address. • Companion tool: a countries-visited map generated from your photos or Timeline data — counts, percentages, first-visit years, all read in the browser. • More client-side tools are on the way. Why it's different Location history is about the most sensitive file you own, so the architecture is the product: no backend, no account, no upload. Video rendering happens client-side with Canvas and WebCodecs; the site itself is just static files. If the site disappeared tomorrow, your data would never have left your device. The video tool builds on the MIT-licensed open-source google-timeline-visualizer project (an Android app), rebuilt for the web so nothing needs installing.
