What is Pier?
Pier is a Windows app that mounts WebDAV storage (Nextcloud, ownCloud, Synology, QNAP), SFTP servers and NFS shares as a real drive with its own letter, so Explorer, Office and scripts see an ordinary local disk. Files are read block by block into a local cache, so only the parts you open travel over the network; interrupted transfers resume from the last block, the drive reconnects by itself after a Wi-Fi or VPN drop and keeps working offline from the cache. It runs as a Windows service, so drives exist for every user and survive a reboot, and Pier Backup (encrypted, versioned backups) is included. Free for up to 5 drives with no time limit; Pro is USD 19 per year. Windows 10/11 64-bit, Windows Server 2019+.
