What is VocArt - Vocabulary?
VocArt is a vocabulary-learning app built around handcrafted illustrated scenes - think about it as living picture dictionary you can tap your way through. Each artwork is a series of wide, detailed illustrations made by independent artists: two collections are genuinely hand-drawn, one is hand-guided with AI assistance. Tap any object in a scene to reveal its word, translation, romanization, and gender - all supported with soft ambient sounds that match the mood of each chapter. There's no drilling, no streaks, no pressure. Just you, beautiful art, and words that stick because you found them yourself. Available on iOS and Android. Supports 17 languages.
Key features
- Hand-crafted illustrations - Two out of three artwork collections are 100% hand-drawn by independent artists (Vietnam, Turkey). The third blends hand-crafting with AI assistance (Indonesia). Every scene is detailed, unique and made with care.
- Ambient soundscapes - Each chapter has its own background sound atmosphere (kitchen sounds, beach vibes, shower in the bathroom) that plays softly while you explore. Fully toggleable.
- Tap-to-learn markers - Circular interactive markers sit on objects inside scenes. Tap one to get the word, native translation, romanization for non-Latin scripts, and article/gender info.
- No drills, no pressure - There are no mandatory exercises, timed tests or daily streaks. Open the app, walk through a scene, tap what catches your eye, close it. That's a valid session.
- Progress that feels light - Markers shift from grey (new) to blue (learned) to red (needs review) as you go. Chapter progress rings fill up quietly in the background.
