What is Profession Count?

Profession Count publishes one page per profession and state for 13 licensed professions: registered nurses, physicians, dentists, pharmacists, physical therapists, chiropractors, veterinarians, insurance agents, loan officers, financial advisors, accountants, cosmetologists and travel agents. Each page gives the BLS Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) May 2025 headcount, the state's rank among all states and the number per 100,000 residents. Employment counts people working in the occupation, which is not the same as licences issued, and states where BLS suppresses the estimate are left out rather than guessed. Free, no signup, every figure sourced.
